SUNandBASS 2008 – The review
This year we made it, we´ve been part of the SUNandBASS festival 2008!
Basically the festival took place in 4 different locations in San Teodoro / Sardinia.
Fast it was clear that the real party happened at Ambra night, a chichi club right at the beautiful sea with an outside area as 2nd floor, very comfortable with tons of white couches…Our home for 7 nights!
The opening party with Commix, Alix Perez and DJ Storm was on fire, I mean DJ Storm kicked asses. Honestly also those tasty cocktails
for each 8 EUR hit us as a storm, the barkeepers seemed as enthusiastic
as the whole party crowd…
Next night D-Bridge, Randall, Doc Scott and Paradox were the highlights.
Paradox´ live set was soo damn wicked…
On Tuesday the only Austrian representatives played: Camo & DisasZt, with newest
rugged n raw stuff in their bags!
They played once at Ambra night and once outside - as many DJs did. The set at the outside area was highly appreciated - usually it was way too quiet there but not
when they appeared! Maybe the organization faced problems with the local authorities.
Could be that this was also the reason why at all outside locations acts like Nymfo, Zero T or Bailay played Minimal, Dupstep or Hip Hop sets…bit uncexpected.
Really outstanding was the set by….Makoto accompanied by Deeizm AND Stamina MC – 90 min. of pure pleasure!
The following night, Lynx and Marcus Intalex brought their typical minimal tunes,
very tight stuff, also the sounds of Break and Fierce just blew me away, this heavy, round style was devishly hot, I loved that.
On Friday we listenend to sensational sets by
Nu:tone, E.Decay and Chris.Su with Marvelous, Victor and Cliché as MCs.
And there it was: Saturday, the final night!
A super finish with Mr. smooth-smoother-Kabuki, Mosus and the absolute intoxicated Mad Vibes, not to forget Icicle and Flight.
Well, when I now think back, every night was just gorgeous. We´ve heard from many more DJs as now mentioned, only technically perfect sets - many unheard, new tracks as well as old classix with the greatest MCs you could imagine – Stamina, DRS, Deeizm, Lowqui, Kemo, Soultrain,… – all that in an absolute familiarly atmosphere!
The artists loved being with the crowd, also to enjoy some sun at the La Cinta beach…
We can only say, start now to spare some money. In general the trip with the ferry from Livorno to Oliba, the festival ticket and the apartment cost us around 450 EUR.

SUNandBASS Interview with Camo
For me, Sun and Bass was one of the highlights this year, cause it connects vacation and party in a very nice way. U get to meet a lot of new people, and it is really enjoyable playing out there.
Any highlights of your stay in Sardinia?
I guess that was swimming in the sea again, since a longer time.
As I know, you keep yourself quite busy with skateboarding, producing
and playing gigs on the weekend, how does a typical “Camo-day” look like?
During week I stay up round 11pm – 12pm and start to work on some tunes or mixdowns. If weather is good I go skateboarding and meet friends in the afternoon and continue working on tunes when im back till late night.
And on weekends I am mostly at some skateboard contests or playing out, love that!
On which productions are you working at the moment, and what’s coming out soon?
There will be an Aphrodite – Ganjaman rmx, and a Future Prophecies – September rmx
by Krooked and me, I am doing some bootys for our bootleg label, and of course lots of other own tunes.
I got a lot of signed tunes in the pipe at the moment waiting to get released , too many to mention here, like 20 or something….But these are some labels they´ll come out on:
Urban takeover, Viper, Sudden Def, Finn People, Uprising, Mainframe, Formation. Renegade Hardware
What does CAMO actually mean, why CAMO?
I just had to write something to the first tune I did years ago and I didn’t think much about it. I stayed with it and I am still feeling it – it’s easy memorable and good to scream!
If I would be a fairy and you would have 3 wishes for 2009, what would it be?
Im very happy with my life as it is at the moment so I would only need one wish:
That I stay happy and lucky and keep envolving in the things I love doing: music and skateboarding.
Oh, I have to take a second one, please fairy….write my works I have to do for university!
